Holy cow - the narrator speaks so slowly I had to increase the apeed to 1.25 just for her to sound normal. Audible must have slowed it down so the audiobook was longer, because surely that isn’t her regular speaking speed.

I liked this story. To me it wasn’t your typical mystery story in the sense that the main character wasn’t constantly looking for the murderer. She went about in her everyday business of writing for her customers. I also think I will read the second book of the series.

This book is first in a series. While the actual mystery itself seems to be moving slowly in the story I do find the story to be very interesting. The main character of Veronica, is a writer not of books, but people hire her to write things for them. For example, wedding vows, letters, information about businesses. Things like that.

Strong start, weak finish. Took place in Chicago which was a fun surprise as I started to read it, but 3/4ths of the way through I was ready to wrap it up. I felt like the last few pages of the book provided a cliff note summary of the plot…which I ended up appreciating because I started to get lost.
