Give this woman every fucking Nobel prize, holy shitballs! To be reading such a gruesome and political book on my period is WILD work and to be enjoying it as much as I am takes TALENT.

Such a brutal part of the story, not flinching at the violence and animalistic nature of the power-abused authorities at all. There is no kind of revenge in this story, just civilians who are being suppressed and tortured to the point where death might be a more generous option, which makes it very realistic in this sense.

How does one begin to forgive this?
