See, everybody loves Lymond. And you might be like “bruh why does everybody fall in love with him” and think it’s poor writing. Lymond: keeps Phillipa at arms length because he loves her and is afraid of it. Wants a divorce to free her of him.

Phillipa: reads all his signals as him afraid she’s gonna fall in love with him. “I WOULD NEVER” also sets him up with other women repeatedly. Thinks he wants a divorce to be free of her.

I’m gonna be insufferable as I read this book heads up.

the problem is I can’t be as insufferable as I want to be.

Phillipa making Lymond almost swear in front of ladies is sooooo funny. “Stricken silent, three by no means inarticulate people looked at her.”

I love that Phillipa is the only person who can consistently make Lymond lose his marbles

Phillipa is also low key s o dumb on top of being wickedly clever. Every time she mentions Lymond’s mistress it’s so funny because she knows he’s in love and assumes it’s with his mistress (who he hasn’t seen in two years) and not with her

Wait no the irony of Lymond being betrayed by people who love him when he firmly believes he’s unlovable.
