I think what John is trying to do is very similar to the difficulty people are having today in our world, when they try to call out the bad behavior they see in systems of power. We as Americans know the government is fucked up but we can’t really do anything to change it in an impactful way because the government can diminish our revolt with false promises and delusions of grandeur.

Poor Linda, too much soma did in fact kill her. Will John go back to the reservation now? Is there anything left for him in society??
