Status Updates From Over een vlakke, kalme zee

The first two stories were compelling and dramatic--heart-breakingly human. Surprisingly, I didn't initially notice the lack of dialogue tags, which I usually immediately find pretentious. Ryan is a smooth, transporting writer. Everything fell apart when I arrived at the third POV. I fell out of my transport because the character was awful and unrelentingly ugly in his headspace. That really destroyed my interest.
