Realizing that I rated this too highly the first times around.. changing this from 4 to 3 stars.
One of those, entertaining at first read, and just annoying after that. I find myself skipping whole passages I know is coming up. And cringing/eye rolling so hard at most of the shit things I’m forcing myself to read by now.

Ugh

Noo it’s over!!! I would’ve loved more, and if it turned into a series. Catching the few references to other aliens I’ve heard of before from JL just made me want more. And so sad to hear that the magic is dying, their kids don’t live as long bc of it?? So bittersweet. Ugh I just want more of this goodness.

Chapter 22
It got a bit rocky there…my mind and everything kept wandering. Some of the shit started losing any and all reasonable sense at times. It’s all over the place. I’m getting a touch bored and over the copious amounts of intimate scenes with multitudes of peoples.

Passed out while reading I was so tired 😳 I’m not too upset since I’m sure it heavily influenced my dreams in the best way. Too bad I woke up groggy & can’t recall it. Not even halfway through this one & can already tell I’m Very likely to be keeping it in my digi library to reread in the future. I can’t think of better praise…

Over five hundred pages
Which I’m already glad for bc I’m looking forward to reading it all, hopefully. This is already starting out so charmingly and quirky and weird af. I kinda love it. Sure some irks but so minor and inconsequential that I don’t mind as much. Fingers crossed it just keeps getting better.

Still on the fence about finishing this. I will start to enjoy it, then get jerked out because FMC goes so OTT and cartoonish without ever switching off. Exhausting. I love a good unlikable FMC, but JL's take on them isn't it. They're always petty, small, and mean people with no redeeming qualities. It makes it difficult to believe the MMCs could stand to be around them, let alone love them.

I’ll start to enjoy this...and then Val will be obnoxious and petty again.
