I'm not sure if this worked as an audiobook. Why? Difficult to articulate because the narration was good. Was it the alternating characters in two different time periods, both relating the same event? I got to midway and just felt exhausted by it all. Fundamentally, there wasn't enough detail around key issues and too much about vomiting, spitting and hawking, which are things in real life that I can not abide.

Triggers for child sexual abuse, sex trafficking and eating disorders. The abuse sections are predictably harrowing even when most are implied, rather than stated. Plus there is just too much spitting, not a fan of frequency or the detailed descriptions of mucus. We already know she is bulimic, going through the specifics multiple times is too much.
