Status Updates From Waking Beauty

Before anyone in the Summer Palace was even awake, she had ridden right out of the story that had been prepared for her, and into another entirely of her own making.

I'm feeling a bit left out of developments. Andromeda's self-discovery as a Witch is summerized, and her relationship with Talen is pre-existing from 2 years before the book. It feels a little more passive "tell more than show" than I'd expected. Some wonderful conversation with the Fairy Godmother on what people are made to want. Love a good eyebrow-raise at the usual tropes.

"They kissed, not gently, but with a sharpness and hunger brought on by the decay surrounding them, by a need to declare to themselves and each other that they were indeed alive."

Ooooh! The two protagonists are alone and the circumstances are calling for some *action*...

- I'm sorry, Andomeda, I'm too tired for anything. - Talen yawns and falls asleep the moment her head hits the pillow.
