Status Updates From The White Mosque

While the premise and topic is interesting, and I am usually a fan of stream-of-consciousness, this book and its prose is far too in love with itself to mean anything to anyone but the author.

I wanted to love this book as much as I had loved the olive tree by Carol Drinkwater. Sadly this book does not successfully tie in the historical Mennonite facts, Sofias own history, her travel experience, and Central Asia history. Another review of this book said it best “the author love reading her own writing”. Often times I am confused by all the jumping around and am re reading sections.
