Made it through the first 100 pages. Boy, this drags in print!

part of the draw for me in this series is the rapid development of not only a space program but also the industrial base supporting it, & the savvy political maneuvering involved in siting factories etc. ie the social engineering aspects of how space industry shapes society, including how different parts of society interact, even as the society shapes its space program. so yeah i'm also reading the nasa history :)

More than halfway through and they’ve been out of the windowless train ONCE 😂. Lots of discussion of the details of labyrinthine Atevi politics, definitely not the place to start with these books! I’m into it though.

I dont want this to end :((( I delayed as long as I could, more than a week. I dont even know when the next book will be out. Will Cherryh give this series a true ending? So many worries. Still I enjoyed this book. I did not expect Husai to be a target but it makes sense. Threaten Bregani and the Marid could be back to square one. Nomari showed his guile which is… concerning. Ah well. Onto the next and last.

I like that ultimately, Tabini and Ilisidi are usually aligned in their plots. While Ilisidi secures Senjin and Koperna, Tabini makes the Dojisigin shit themselves. Yeah, the Shadow Guild is FUBAR.

Ilisidi is jumping into the fire in Senjin. Let us hope that whatever she’s planning goes well. Poor Cajeiri is a nervous wreck, poor boy. Protect the child

I love Cajeiri too, channeling his mani. He is hers, after all, his man’chi is forever attached to her. He’s become so clever and will surely be a force to reckoned with when he becomes aiji.

I fucking love Ilisidi, she’s so sly and enjoys a scandal. All while sipping her tea. Truly a queen. When she dies, if she dies, I will cry like a baby. And honestly if and when she dies, it better be the last book in the series. I don’t think I could go on without my aiji-ma

Im taking awhile to read this. I just dont want it to end, after this, one book left. I know more will come, at least I hope so.

Took a small break from reading but I’m back. Not a whole lot has happened yet, just some Guild shenanigans that Banichi and Jago arent yet privy to.

The story picks up
Immediately after the previous book & I’m thoroughly enjoying the progression of Illisidi & her enjoyable intricate manipulations that end up for the good of all despite the build up. You must check it out if you haven’t already.
