A rousing conclusion: BUT! Always we should be ready when we see this word for what Sproul calls “a weighty qualifier!”

Look up Heb. 6:4-6. Is it possible for those who fall away to return?

Together the promises of God, the internal testimony of the Holy Spirit, the earnest of the Spirit, and the sealing of the Spirit comprise a solid ground for the believers full assurance of salvation. Assurance is not an essential of the faith. It is a comfort of the faith, a sense of well-being in the Faith.

Any cooperation we display towards God occurs only after the work of regeneration has been completed. Of course, we respond to this work. We respond in a manner similar to that of Lazarus when, after being loosed, he stepped out of the tomb.

The Golden Chain of Salvation is on p. 146, but Sproul elaborates here on the pleasure of God in choosing some to be saved and some not. I’m particularly struck by his statement that God choosing according to his pleasure doesn’t mean his selection is arbitrary or capricious. It’s based on his GOOD pleasure.

I’m zooming along rather well. Interesting point that Jesus came not just to die a perfect Lamb, but to live perfectly as well.

“The essence of the ministry of witness is to make manifest what is hidden to the eyes of men.”
“Christ’s intercession work did not end with his earthly ministry. It continues perpetually in heaven… and in his session at the Father’s right hand Jesus continues to make intercession for us daily.”
