Notes for my review

I love the writing and the world building and I am completely drawn in to the conspiracy and I want to know what happened.

But the portrayal of mental health? No. The romance sucks. She tries to protect him from her past by keeping secrets. Her past catches up anyway and almost killed him. If she had told the truth, they might have avoided that.

Also, he hurts her as a demonstration. What?

Their relationship is so unhealthy. She keeps secrets but did he just cut her to prove a point?

I hate that she's hiding how she feels from him and pushing him away on the pretense of protecting him. It's annoying.

I'm curious. Do interventions really work? I have people in my life who do not have healthy behavior but they know how I feel and I know that they don't change. I feel like this is a very romantic/codependent view of friendship.

Slow burn finally moves a bit and it's a bit more purple than I care for.
