I can’t overstate how significant this book is for making sense of the Eucharist as a sacrifice, without ignoring reformation concerns. Genuinely phenomenal

“The sacrifice of Issac, the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, and our sacrifice in the church are not three distinct sacrifices; they are one and the same.”

“In some mysterious way, our self sacrifice is a participation in the sacrifice of Christ.”

The Eucharist is a sacrifice only as far as it is participating in the once for all sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Time is bent in the Eucharist meal so that we share in that initial sacrifice and do not make a new one. Mind blown
