This first chapter/essay was phenomenal. Boersma traces a sacramental path of eternity/time participation from the apostolic fathers through Charles Taylor to (almost like T.S. Eliot) show how the Eucharist is an eternaly present sacrifice. One that our sufferings may join with, while avoiding a denial of impassibility. This book may be tiny but it is making connections between vital doctrines/philosophies for a re-enchantment of life. The second essay advocates for the real presence view as opposed to Roman or Reformed views.

I'm telling you man, we need to retrieve Babylonian semiotics! This fits exactly into the function of images/likenesses in Mesopotamia, from which our Hebrew/Jewish heritage shares a similar worldview/philosophy—more so then Platonic thought!
