Status Updates From The Savage Instinct

Sad to say this book is coming across as very derivative. I am 99% sure that the husband most likely had a mistress while she was inside the asylum. I wanted a more original story given Mary Ann Cotton’s story is interwoven, but it feels predictive and unoriginal.

Hmm, not sure I want to read 360 pages of a woman being mentally abused by her husband. We get it. Hoping this plot moves forward…feels very repetitive right now.

For whatever reason, I kept seeing this book everywhere and finally bought it at a used bookstore in Sedona, Arizona. We’re starting out with Clara being released from an insane asylum her husband Henry put her in after she had a miscarriage and suffered depression.

From pg. 1...I'd always viewed the world with an artist's eye. Drawn to edges, angles, curves, and texture. The way light plays with shade and casts surfaces into bold relief, revealing the beauty of their imperfections. But now I know this does not apply to people, whose flaws can be so loathsome, so vile, so entrenched, that nothing-no earthly or heavenly light-can redeem them.
