Status Updates From Cap (Reed Security, #2)

These characters are driving me crazy!!! They are both so selfish and the expectations are ridiculous… I’m the owner, I can’t change my life you have to.., I don’t want to be told what to do… grow up!

I’m pushing through because this book has been so highly rated but it’s taking me a long time to get through it!

I am really having huge issues with Maggie, the female protagonist.

Not so good I’m afraid. I find the heroine a spoiled entitled brat who constantly puts her life at risk and worse, the lives of others including the guy she loves.

I have to be careful as what I’m doing isn’t the smartest thing going for a reader. The books calling the loudest are from two very similar tropes but different authors. Both are RS, both are about a group of former SEALS that have opened their own security companies.

“I’m just saying, when they say eat for two, they don’t mean two grown men.”
“It’s water weight,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
“That’s a lot of fucking water,” Mark said.

“It’s like feminism never happened,” she said as she took a bite of her own ice cream.
“I’m not even a feminist. I’m not all about woman power and all that crap. I just don’t see how me having a vagina automatically makes me the main caregiver. Hello? He has two hands and he’s relatively intelligent. I don’t think having a penis renders you incapable of taking care of a child.”

“It’s not fucking about you. It should have been for her. Flowers, wine, candles, at the very least, you should have been in the same house as her. You weren’t even in the same city.”
“But lollipops are our thing.” I leaned back into the seat and tried to get comfortable.
“What about lollipops makes this special?”
“I call her lollipop because I like to lick her until-”

“Every woman wants a baby,” he said more to himself than to me.
“No, every man thinks that every woman wants a baby. You get to keep your job and continue to work the hours you want and climb the corporate ladder.”
“I’m already at the top of the ladder. I own the business,” Sebastian said like I was the dumbest person he’d ever met.
“That’s besides the point. Nothing about your life has to change.”

“Come on, Aggie. I’ve got some hard candy in my pocket we can suck on while we wait for Hunter to look at her.”
“Harry! Come on. Nobody needs to know what you and Aggie are going to be doing.”
Harry pulled his hand out of his pocket, revealing a handful of hard caramel candies.
“Get your mind out of the gutter, girlie. In my day, hard candy meant hard candy.”

“Dear, when the urge strikes at our age, you take it. Sex is like snow; you never know how many inches you’re gonna get or how long it’s going to last.”
