Part two of the book offers 13 theses on the role of philosophy in relationship to both poetry and mathematics. This section addresses the infamous divide in philosophy between the continental and analytic traditions. Philosophy for Badiou needs to maintain its thinking of being which falls to mathematics, and the event which falls to poetry.

Part one of the book is great. It’s a dialogue with Badiou which focuses on his vocabulary, where the interlocutors ask Badiou to discuss his concepts in a very public way. Badiou reaffirms the need for philosophy that preserves Being, Truth, and Subject contra the dominant circulation of opinions servile to the capitalist order.
