It's funny, but it takes me out of the story, I appreciate the author making these jokes but they just don't work with the seriousness of the plot. I'm kinda like "I was ha ha-ing really hard before, but I need a break dude"

He's just touched the robot version of Mao and gained infinite revolutionary aura and he tells the FBI agent trying to protect Earth "yeah he's going to link up with Sankura and Stalin cause they've got worse shit going on over there". Like I would be baffled too but I totally respect it.
