I knew one thing for sure: Conventionality seemed like the worst thing I could imagine. Conventionality seemed deadly to gay people. As in, conventional people literally wanted us dead. I wanted to question everything about the way the world was structured, break it all down and rebuild it in ways that didn't hate people like me.

Oof... This one hits.

Intersex velvet-horn deer have their own little society of found-family??
They don't produce their own offspring like the female groups, though they do adopt orphaned fawns. They don't fight each other like the male groups, AND they are healthier on average?

Honestly, they sound really fucking chill.

The bonobos really dgaf. They're living their best bisexual life. Also, the female bonobos all being allies with their same-sex partners? Peak girls' girl behaviour.

The more I read this book, the more I am annoyed with the humanity

Loving this one so far. Lowkey takes me back to my critical studies and decoding days. It even contains some references to things I've read for this minor.

But it's definitely an accessible type of prose, which I appreciate since this is information that should be available to read regardless of someone's skill or ability to interpret academic jargon.

I've seen so many people read and praise this book, I just had to see what all the hype is about!
