Re: the Macbeth superstition, I'm pretty sure it's specifically the name of //the play// which is supposed to be unlucky. Not the name of //the character.//

So we say "the Scottish play," but not "that really morbid guy who gets bullied by his wife a lot." I'm pretty sure you're allowed to just call him Macbeth.
