Status Updates From The Day Before (Time & Shad...

Sigh. After I got started I realized with slow horror that I didn't have a near future crime/mystery, but an attempt at a time travel story. Authors never seem to realize that they don't work (it's impossible not to catch yourself up in a paradox).
Well, other than that, it's not terrible, and short so I will finish it I think

As the questions pile up, an unexpected twist... connected deaths dating back years and... a dead body found in a very unexpected place! Oh yeah, hooked is the word I'd use right now!

As beginnings go, I'm very happy with this one. Some of the Chapter openings are a little confusing, but the discovery of the body that gets the investigation going serving as a prologue for the book was nicely done.

Then there's the new world Brooks has created. It is the future, but not quite dystopian as humanity seems to be hanging on by a thin thread. Bu then there's the clones... and here we go!
