"My love for the king cake began in January 2017. I'd just been dumped, which as we all know if fertile ground for boneheaded ideas. Looking for a distraction, I vowed to sample every king cake in New Orleans before Fat Tuesday. I didn't succeed, but I did eat more than 80 different kinds, and what struck me as amazing (besides that I didn't develop diabetes) was how many varieties of king cake there are."
