oh wow. that dance/fight. i loved the "everything heightened, the smells, the surroundings" that was cool

such a good concept. all of their parents are asleep and these teenagers are wildly struggling to rule in their absence. love a trans prince and an enby lady(themby?)-in-waiting. I just... the pacing is so weird? the plot itself confuses me?? I feel like they keep making kind of strange decisions and expecting normal results lol.

what's keeping me going is guessing the enchantress...

Finally had the chance to sit with this a good while and. The pacing is weird? I'll go back and reread the previous paragraph only to realize no it does sort of drop off into the next scene weirdly. Unexplained things appearing in scenes, weird shifts in time. That sea monster is criminal though. The whole thing happening in the span of a page had me WHEEZING.

I'm not super invested yet... darn!

I could be won over but something about it just reads on a side of silly that I can't get immersed in. maybe it was valencia's angel of death thing??

I can’t stand a book with mistaken identity. One thinks another has done something horrible and vice versa when they should be teaming up against the real enemy. It was nearly 200 pages before it was revealed. I was being driven insane.

Can’t get the next Sunbearer Trials book until Saturday so I’m going with this for now. It’s been on my tbr for a while so I’m excited to finally reed this!
