I listened very carefully to the beginning of this in order to get all the details of the beginning which gave me a few more tidbits of detail. I also was reminded of the descriptions of the main characters and locations.

This author is a little obsessed with stomachs. People have rubbed them 5 or 6 times and the word stomach or tummy appears 24 times. Clenching, tightening, feeling sick, having them rubbed.

« Fabrice’s wife was hysterical. » seriously? This was written by a woman?? We are still portraying perfectly reasonable and smart women as hysterical in the 21st century? She doesn’t like 12 cigar smokers to meet and smoke in her home NO SHIT NEITHER WOULD I that house is gonna stink for the next ten years, so she lit some scented candles and that makes her hysterical?

I’m liking the mystery but I’m not liking the detective guy, he’s incredibly judgmental and very uptight. Unfortunately he happens to be the main character.
