This is such a powerful story. I feel bad for Sen, for she's had a tough "road to hoe" for her entire life.
One of the interludes tells a portion of Sen's like...when she turned 18 years old. That was key, and I wonder how THAT will change the storyline, down the road. Hmm.

This fantasy story is really interesting (just still skimming the surface of what will happen, I believe).
It seems that we are seeing the conquerers through a new light. We have grown to understand/like/love the stone tribe of Fannalhen...and seeing the invaders, with their confident brutality (mirroring what our ancestors were like, when they landed on the fresh shores). Makes you think.

A good start to the series. Getting my feet planted in the world and the worldbuilding...era.
Since I've read Pale Night, Red Fields...I am trying to fit THAT story, in this world. Interesting.
