I really enjoyed the intrigue of the investigation into a murder (coverup). The main character...under pressure, finds the truth. Foils a scheme to convict an innocent person. Set down on an interesting planet, but come to realize there are bigger creatures out there.

Professor Helmith,
Once he came to the academy...and professor Helmith was so different, I just got this feeling that the professor Helmith he met at home was NOT the real one, and the one that is at the academy WAS the real one. The one he met was evil...and he didn't know it. I don't know why I feel this way, but I do. I think he has it backward. He's never met the real professor Helmith. I just needed to put this down.
Now, I may be completely wrong, but it is what it is.
