i started this thinking 'oh essay collections, they're good to dip into.' but now i feel like there's something wrong with me because i'm not into this. it feels too cold, the nancy reagan one in particular.

finally! the first interesting essay. didion gets a rejection letter from her university of choice and cries and daydreams about commiting suicide. she also writes a paper for a friend; he gets an A but when she submits the same paper she gets a B-. (GIRL! I've been there...)

before this i thought didion was not for me but now i'm wavering
