"We will be playing the happy couple, touring the National Palace. We can use the tour to mark exits, note security, and create a path we need to follow to the president's office should that be the place we need to break into."

I bark. Anger being my cover for the flush running through my body at his perusal. Cam pales a little bit, looking sheepish and Elijah barks a laugh.
"I get what you mean, Cam. I might be a little in love too." Elijah goads as his laughter eases. Elijah's words send warmth through my body.
I keep my eyes on Cam until he mutters, "Understood, boss."

I roll my eyes at his antics, and I get right to it. Addressing Beau first I say, "We will need a place to stay, off the grid. I'd prefer not to leave a paper trail, even with our aliases. I assume you'll be our best bet there."

I've got another meeting." He grins at the stunned expressions on Moe, Curly, Larry, and Sue's faces and throws me a wink as he leaves the conference room.
Cam is the first to recover from his stupor, "I didn't think it was possible to find you more attractive, but apparently it is." Grinning at Gael he continues, "I think I'm in love."

Channeling my inner arrogance, I kick my feet up to the conference table as I twirl my pen through my fingers. With a cocksure smirk on my face, I correct Beau, "Not quite a dozen, but still."
Briggs jumps in, "Boys, meet the CIA’s very own ‘Specter.’ She will be the lead on this assignment. You leave in 24 hours. I'll leave you to your planning.

I can't help it, I snort. "Dream on, handsome. I'm the captain now." He glares at me as the rest of his team looks disbelieving.

As if he knows the questions plaguing me, Briggs continues, "Collins, you've been assigned a team because of the small window you've been given and the amount of security you'll encounter at the National Palace and the governor's home."
"Wait, Collins has been assigned a team?" Elijah demands. "Briggs, I was under the impression I was leading."

"Not much to tell." I hurry to add before GQ can say anything else in front of Briggs that I might have to stab him for later. "We met in passing. I didn't even get his name."

I’m pretty sure my dad wouldn’t appreciate knowing Porter and I have anything but a platonic friendship. My face feels like it is flaming a deep red. I take a breath to calm myself.
"Oh?" Elijah asks. "Do tell." He asks a little warily, like with GQ, the likelihood of what comes out of his mouth next being inappropriate is high.

Briggs looks between the two of us, "You two know each other, already?"
"We actually met at a bar last night. Under very entertaining circumstances." The bastard just has to add. I don't get embarrassed about much, but my sex life being brought up in front of my father will definitely do it. Especially when said sex life is with my best friend who, coincidentally, was practically raised by Briggs, too.

Stepping through the doorway, I look at Elijah and the men around him when my steps falter as I lock eyes with none other than Mr. GQ and his two friends. No. Way. I choke on my next breath, and GQ bastard's face lights up like it's his birthday and he just found out he's a wizard. "Spitfire." GQ grins incredulously. "Long time no see."

"Ok. Spill, dude. Who's Cami?" I ask as we take our seats back at the bar and order two more drinks. I never drink something I have left unattended. A byproduct of not only being a woman but also as a super-secret assassin that has, on more than one occasion, killed very powerful people by poisoning their drinks. Oops.

Porter steps up behind me. "Yeah, sorry about that man." I laugh and grab Porter's hand, leading him out of the bathroom and throwing a two fingered salute to our stranger as we pass him.

Our eyes lock at the same time. Porter's face shows absolute horror, and I can imagine mine reflects the surprise and humor coursing through me. That explains the babe comment. Based on his horrified expression, I think he worries I'm going to tear into him for calling me some other girl's name. But really, we're best friends first, benefits second.
