Read a lot today. Tomorrow I kick into studying gear so I expect to slow down some. I finished the third chapter which reveals a bit more about Asle’s sister. It also gives us a look into how he chooses which paintings to sell and which to keep. Also a bit about moving away from home for the first time.

I put the wrong digit at the front of the last update. This is the correct end of the second chapter about the painter’s second day. He starts thinking about his childhood by the sea and his frankly weird neighbors. Right before the end of the chapter he recalls being sexually abused as a child by a neighbor that his parents forbade him from seeing.

Finished the second chapter. It seems like each of the seven chapters are dedicated to a day in a week. This one was mostly about taking care of his hospitalized friend’s dog and reminiscing about his childhood by the sea.

Done with the first of the seven chapters. It spanned a single day in a guy’s head

Great! Dreamlike, very easy to get lost in it.

This is another book consisting of many smaller books. I got it at a used bookstore in Toledo last summer. So far it’s majority stream of consciousness but I’m finding it relatively easy to follow, maybe because his thoughts repeat a fair bit.

Septology VI has a certain emptiness to it which is devastating when placed next to the story of Asle and Ales meeting. I have some mixed feelings about the theological themes but I can’t tell if my concerns are the point of the book or not. Very excited to finish and get the whole picture, this book has been such an insane journey.
