Status Updates From Sister of the Angels

Just fine… I’m in a rut with reading. It’s a short read; I’ll try again soon

The humor in this is so delightful! Part of the humor is funny observations from Henrietta’s perspective, which are so delightfully childlike and part is from the narrator’s wry comments.

“Of course it was interesting when somebody had a cold, even if it were only a cold he’d invented. They had the sense to be very interested in everything in Torminster. The opening of a new flower thrilled them, and the rising of the moon. A cold in the head was a matter of much importance, and a birth or a death shook the whole community to its foundations. This, Henrietta thought, was as it should be (114).

“Grandfather…found them, lying together in the glow of the stove, illumined by the snow-light, their faces bright with their dreams” (67).

“[Hugh Antony] was a good story-teller. Ignorance of his subject merely lent wings to his imagination, and probability was not a thing that he took into account at all” (66).
