Status Updates From Starting Point 1979-1996

I've just hit page 50 of 500, highlighting furiously the whole way, as I cry laughing at Miyazaki's uncannily well-observed description of the ways capital subordinates art to toy sales. Those observations still feel painfully relevant 40 years after he wrote them. If you love art or storytelling, read it. If you despise "AI-generated art", as I do, definitely read it.

The proposal for Whisper of the Heart makes me want to watch it soon.

Sometimes, while reading this book, it’s hard and painful to remember that this book and those opinions are from 1979-1996 and everything EVERYTHING changed since.
