Ok my theory is Ryland punched him in the nose for grabbing his necklace but then left him. Matthew ate the food that the chef cooked but with the mixed spices. He was allergic to the one spice, had went into anaphylactic shock, died, and then dude who mixed the spices dragged him outside. But who was the spice mixer?
