finally got herself together. it took the state bringing her into custody and court orders soberity that got her right. she did end up leaving toby. sofia couldnt stay off drugs or alcohol and ended up getting liver cancer. she thought things were going to be good between her and james sr but he wanted nothing to do with her and blamed her for the reasoning behind maria dying. anna ended up doing alright and she gets

so the way this book ended i was pretty pleased. it all came out. jamesjr ended up getting his daddy out of prison with his law work. and james sr got his act together. and wanted to be active in the grandkids life since he wasnt active in his own kids life. abuela ended up going back to mexico to see sofia father grave, she wondered if things would have been different if she would have just stayed in mexico. selena
