Status Updates From L.a mer sans nom (Fable, #2)

Loving the self-aware Fable in the last few chapters. Also enjoying the strain all her deals are putting on the crew and that there is depth to these characters - no one is just rolling over and accepting what’s happening because the MMC and FMC say so.

Koy redemption arc!!? Lowkey love him and would like to see more of his character fleshed out now that he’s joining the marigold…

As if whatever West said was going to change how Fable feel about him? And it wasn’t even that life-altering - he’s just been doing bad things for Saint which we sort of already knew about. Also, why is Fable comparing the love she has for West to her love for her dad (Saint)? Is it because they’re both forms of doomed love or maybe complicated? Idk the wording is icky.

It’s such an easy quick read!! Love it!!

Found another error - use of ‘the’ twice. Little things like this really take me out of the story but fortunately, Young is an incredible writer and I was thrown right back in. Great descriptions, world building and twists! Isolde being Holland’s daughter!!? West appearing!!?

More pirate stories yay 🏴‍☠️🎧🐠🌟🔱

Slight inconsistency - on page 39 fable is unbuttoning her shirt to pull it over her head but on 42, she’s reaching into her shirt to pull out West’s ring. Maybe she didn’t finish pulling her shirt off but Young was detailing everyone pulling their shirts off and laying them on the boat (power play between dredgers). It’s taken me out of the story a bit.
