Status Updates From Across the Wall: A Tale of ...

Endings: 3* A vampire-like creature has two swords and two daughters, named Sorrow and Joy. He can think of two endings, one were his daughters are killed by a hero but he kills the hero because he chose to fight with Sorrow, another where a youth kills him with Joy (where are his daughters in this one?).

Three Roses: 4* Very short, written the day of a talk, where he met his wife. A gardener grows very beautiful roses, thinking he will forget his dead wife but didn't. He keeps growing the roses for the King, who didn't have love.

My New Really Epic Fantasy Series: 3* Basically a joke about fantasy series. I did not find it particularly funny.

Hope Chest

Hansel's Eyes: 4* Hansel and Gretel but they are lost in a city. Hansel finds a PlayStation store that is actually a witch's lair. She wants his eyes and teaches Gretel to be a witch, until they freeze-dry her. Gretel replaces her brother's missing blue eye with the patchwork cat's green eye. They go home, their stepmother dies and by the time their father thinks of remarrying, they have a new plan.

Heart's Desire: 3* Nimue get the power of magic, but her cost and Merlin's is the love between them. Interesting idea.

Down to the Scum Quarter: 4* Choose Your Own Adventure, with some paragraphs that cannot be access the normal way. It was fun, but a bit tedious to read back and forth in an epub.

Lightning Bringer: not my type of story. The narrator, as a boy, crossed paths with the Lithning Bringer, who told him they were the same before killing a pretty girl. He returned when the narrator was 16, was about to do the same to his girlfriend, but the narrator got rid of him. 1*

The Hill: 3* Rowan seeks his great-great-grandfather Bert's help to prevent his father Roger from selling the Hill. Bert and Rowan go to the Hill, then lead Roger into the bush to fall into a crevasse to give him time to think. Set on New Year Eve's of the Twenty-First century, very precisely.

From the Lighthouse: 3* A man bought an island, but the seller didn't have the rights to sell it anyway. He arrives as a conqueror, a woman takes him to the lighthouse and pushes him to his death. Too many techno-babble.

Charlie Rabbit: 3* Abbas and his brother Joshua are alone at night when their house is bombed. They go to the cellar, but water is rising from a broken pipe. They go up a chute, but the exit is blocked. Abbas uses Joshua's toy rabbit to ask for help and they are rescued.

Under the Lake 3*. The Lady in the Lake isn't human, but she accepted to make a magic sword, scabbard and cup in exchange for human sacrifices (Excalibur and the Grail), but there were unexpected consequences to her magic. She is stuck under water in a non-human form, when Merlin comes to get the artifacts.

Preface was interesting (retrospective of writing stories since age 6). Skipped Nicholas Sayra since I read it already.
