Status Updates From This Means War!

Juliet, a fifth grade girl is surrounded by changes: her best friend has two new friends and doesn't want to spend time with a girl, her grandfather died, her grandmother moved to a nursing home, so many students have been added due to the Air Force base now there are two fifth grade classes.

I'm waiting for Bruce to be realistic. Also, it just occurred to me that Lowell would make a much more interesting protagonist than Juliet.

I'm kind of worried that this is going to start lapsing into doll-shaming. But maybe Wittlinger will be better than that.

I was going to say that I was pretty sexist at this age, just like the boys, but actually? I don't think I was. I mean, I wasn't about to lead a feminist movement or anything, but I wasn't THIS sexist, and neither were most of my friends. Maybe it's the time period?

I kinda like this Judy Blume-esque kind of feel. I feel like I can see where the story is going already, but the tone is done really well.

Since Juliet is no longer friends with Lowel, i hope she becomes good friends with the new girl Patsy.Juliet deserves a friend. She really does seem like a nice sweet girl.
