Oh dear. I overlooked the major plot flaw a few chapters back, just to see where the author was really going with the book, since up until now, there hasn't been any connection to the first book.
Now in chapter16, the connection is revealed and I think the writer has gone off the Hippie Deep End

Jeez! Another Hopeless Trope (Time Travel) story. I almost never finish them because it's pretty much impossible to write one without tripping up on paradox
