Fascinating document, an oral history told to a coworker. Short. With the annotations provided at montpelier.org, a 5-star read. Perhaps Jennings' true thoughts on slavery can be seen in his helping to plan the largest slave escape attempt in US history in 1848. They are both praised here by Jennings, but, while they weren't physically abusive, James Madison was a slaver and Dolley Madison was a gleeful slaver.
