Status Updates From Honourkeeper (Warhammer)

Excellent. A nice balance between storytelling and battles to string it together. Working towards a conclusion you know about and letting the impact of it serve the character arcs and the grim, nasty world is a fine craft.
The big battles are cool, though less than the plot.

Some vague tactical descriptions and nonsensical geology (red stained copper, obsidian metal), but otherwise good writing and visceral combat interspersed with dour character work.
I don't think I'll start with the War of Vengeance trilogy straight after this but wait until I can get the series complete.
In the mean time I'll read some Bretonnian novels in prep for my new army.<3

If the prince and his bodyguard turn out to Slaanesh cultists that will be mighty interesting.

It's been a while since I've had something with such huge chapters, doesn't help with the pacing. The writing is great though, fantastically visual and full of character.<3

Love seeing both Dwarven and Elven perspectives. Equally pompous and full of themselves. The prose is fantastic, Kyme can write!<3
