Holy shit.

Fuck it. 5 stars already.

Just 30 pages in, and I'm completely sold: compelling, dense historical background; brilliant metaphors; archival materials; and the sudden appearance of Borges' poem in the midst of the narrative has left me in awe.

Daša Drndić is already becoming one of my favorite authors.

I'll give it a few more chapters, but the over written stream of consciousness style is making me mentally click a red ink pen rather aggressively in my mind.
