I was finally able to get a hold of this book and I’m excited to read it!

PS: Back when I read Jellicoe Road for the first time I saw bits of myself in the main character. Now all I see is my little one in Danny :)

Danny Griggs is so adorable and cute and Marchetta has put him in a very, very tight spot lol.

Reading this wonderful book with my 6 year old daughter and I/we're loving it so much!

Simmo wore army pants on casual clothes days and wore his hair cropped short so when he squinted at you, he really looked mean. He was also rumoured to have kissed Gracie McLean, an older woman in grade six. I'm not laughing at Danny, I swear! But that was just sooo cute!

Danny understood soccer celebrations more. They ran around the field for at least three minutes, shouting. Sometimes they pulled their shirts over their heads while running. But not Bella. Why not? Bosoms. She preferred to do cartwheels. I adore Marchetta's ability to differentiate her voice in the genres she writes. And I love that Danny is Jonah's brother. :::Jonah swoon:::

"He pointed at both his eyes with two fingers and then pointed at Danny with the same two fingers.
'That means he's watching you,' Jackson explained." LOL! This story is adorable.

Someone AHEM lost the book, so it's on hold until we find it :(

This book is so sweet. The Jonah scenes are making me want to reread Jellicoe, like, right now.

Is it weird that my inner 9 year old has a crush on Danny and my inner 17 year old has a crush on his older brother Jonah?

"The next night he asked Jonah if he could take $9.49 out of Jonah's secret stash that only Danny and his mum and Jack knew about. Jonah kept it in his sock drawer next to a photograph of Jonah and a girl with sad eyes, taken in one of those railway station photo booths." Aww Taylor.

"Danny waited for his brother Jonah to ring. Jonah was at camp out bush for the next six weeks. There wasn't much phone coverage where Jonah was, but Danny's brother managed to find a spot every night to call. No matter what." Why hello there, Jonah Griggs, why am I not surprised that you're such a good older brother?

Excited to be reading another Melina Marchetta book!

The thing abt reading children's books as an adult is that you want the kids to succeed in their schemes and so you revert to your anti-adult authority philosophy. These teachers are just getting in the way!! Hmph!

These kids! So funny. I'm dying of the cutes. Machetta, never fails to entertain me and connect me to her characters

This book makes me smile :).

Awww. Sweet how abseiling down that gully practically becomes a secret project that involves the whole school.
