Feels silly to add a cookbook to the currently reading list, but this was one of the top recommendations when asking other second gen kids for books with recipes like our grandmothers made. Hoping to work my way through it (with a skip here or there for things I know I don't like) before tackling Diana Kennedy

The recipes are alright. One thing that I find very irritating is the author's repeated and frequent references to readers in the U.S. as "North Americans," apparently completely oblivious to the fact that Mexico itself is in North America. Does it affect the substance of the recipes? No, but to me it is a persistently irksome distraction. And I don't like this book as much as his Everyday Mexican, one of my faves.
