ugh i'm dedinitely going to have to sleep on this

so frustrated. the jacob's ladder first order of business when limping into a system should be to repair/refuel out by the gas giants/asteroids and prepare to leave if necessary. gather all the information they can about the situation no matter what the situation is. i'm not saying don't establish contact; just don't assume the planet is a viable option. what if it's not?
