Status Updates From Adonis: Selected Poems (The...

I always find poetry to be challenging - but wow, this translation is beautiful. I find myself struggling with the equal and opposite desires of wanting to sit and dwell in each poem and to continue on to the next.

One of the sections I just read is 'The Book of Siege', which is about Beirut and Lebanon under attack in the 1980s (as well as being in the grips of a civil war), but some of it sounds like a contemporary poem about Gaza. It is incredibly powerful.
