The order in which I reread this trilogy doesn’t have to make sense to anyone but me

When the author of a book writes their black characters as being defensive, maybe rude and maybe antagonistic towards white characters and then the white characters call her racist, I take pause. It’s hard to get into this book, but now with this characterization, it is infuriating and really problematic.
