I am very pleased to report that Do Valle is very critical of American society's valorization of thinness, which she did not encounter in Brazil.

There are some editing issues in this book and I don't agree with some of the advice (forbid snacks outside of designated meal/snack times and disallow snacks in bed*), but overall I find the text very accessible.

* my main issues with kids eating snacks in bed are crumbs and dental hygiene, but if my kid's hungry at bedtime I won't make them go to sleep hungry.

I'm glad that the authors stress that the ARFID criterion of low weight is something that shouldn't be the deciding factor for whether a person has it, and they emphasize also that fat people can have restrictive eating disorders.
