Status Updates From Afrodite och döden

All in all a great read!

And I don’t like the dad that much but maaybe in the next book..

Not sure how I feel about her and Linus. It seems to be more of a middle school crush and nothing more. Their scenes where they are closer have an awkward vibe. Either she’s not ready for that kind of intimacy oooor she’s not comfortable enough with him. Both meaning she’s not ready for it with him at least.

I did remember the killer but it was still a tense read. The mystery is truly a great one in this book and I’m very happy with the culprit. You can guess who it is if you pay attention but it’s not obvious at all.

Her dad sucks if that’s the only reason he has been acting so weird. It’s such a minor thing that even Ditte forgave him instantly. Instead of telling the truth right away he has been lying to her and blaming her for doubting him. Solid parenting.

I have to admit it’s nice to see Linus be more serious and have an honest conversation with Ditte. Starting to see why they like each other. When they’re not too awkward there’s some chemistry. Too bad they’re like that most of the time since they’re so young and nervous.

Linus hasn’t been anything special so far. He’s kind of boring and it’s so obvious Ditte is in love with him just for his looks. He has no real personality outside of being goodlooking and having a dog. This resembles my crushes when I was 14 though so it’s very realistic. In that age it’s enough that a guy is nice to you and looks okay.

Even if I didn’t know the real killer already it’s painfully obvious it’s not Samuel. Regardless of that it’s impressive how well the author has captured the feeling of dread and rushing adrenalin when Ditte is in Samuel’s car. He seems terrifying and you can just picture yourself in that moment.

I’m intrigued although I have a strong hunch about the culprit since I’ve read this book before. The author has captured the feeling of youth for me. Ditte does feel like an eight grader. She’s almost as dramatic as I was in her age and the crush on Linus rings true to that age as well. They’ve had only couple surface level conversations. Still she’s sooo into him because he’s hot. It’s adorable.

Reading pretty slowly since this is in swedish (although it’s such a short book it’ll go faster anyways). I just want to learn to read in swedish better since I want to finish this series and only two of the books have been translated to finnish. This book used to be such a favourite of mine!
