FFS. This chick is thin & bony to the point of literal starvation—fainting, black spots in her vision, hardcore muscle weakness—& insists she just needs to eat, yet any time she’s offered food she won’t eat it! But of course her hair is so healthy & shiny & luscious despite the lack of food for months, & our hero instantly lusts for her gorgeousness despite a malnourished bony physique. 🙄🤢🤮

Because this modern Avon was recently published (2011) rather than a product of the early 2000s—that is, back when HR still included plots or external conflict or even questionable behavior—I don’t have much hope. But who knows. Maybe it won’t suck! Maybe I’ll love it! Maybe I’ll win millions & marry a hot baseball player! ALL THESE THINGS COULD HAPPEN, GODDAMMIT. 😱

If prayers couldn't save her, God must suspect her lack of sincerity in her entreaties. I love it.

Here we go, again! Gothic romance, suspense and Autumn crispness is the perfect setting for this book. Artistic inspiration and imagination take possession of my senses.
