This book is so beautifully heartfelt and true. It brings to mind all the pain of the brutal colonisation of Tibet but is also testimony of the humility of Pistono. It is rocking me to my core but also filling me with awe and remembrance. What a good find this book is for me.

Hmmmmm... I can see why previous reviewers have mentioned finding the book confusing at first. It *does* seem to jump around all over the place chronologically in the first section. That's probably totally appropriate, given the subject material; but for a linearly-thinking Westerner, it can be a tad challenging. Still, it's interesting enough so far to make the effort worth it, so I shall persevere :-)

One of my goals for 2016 is to read more non-fiction, and this sounded like an interesting premise for a book, so I'm giving it a go :-)
