The North Tongue is apparently like Irish, in that it is pronounced in a way that non-speakers would never infer from the spelling.

I can never figure out what Brayden is going to do or say, because he refuses to act like a stereotype.

The descriptions of the wet and cold are my favorite.

It's not bad, it's just feels a bit... amateurish? Like it almost, almost could've worked if it were a bit more skilfully written. As it is, I just don't care - neither about main characters, nor about the mysteries around them. Maybe I'll come back to it some day (but unlikely).

Like, why did we spend thirty pages reading about Wil wanting to take a bath, preparing to take a bath, taking a bath? I thought he was going to fight nekkid in the bathhouse, like Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises. But no, he just took a bath. Phh!

I want to like this book. I really do, but I keep sticking with it and it keeps letting me done. I'm gone keep pushing through, but my expectations are low.
